Applications and systems follow structures and processes

Another very frequent mistake is that applications and systems are selected and decided either by HR or IT only. Rarely the implementation is based on process management; means first design the process and then implement it.

Therefore the third step after the differentiation between core and support HR, after the design of the processes and the related structures, is to design the system landscape and the applications to support the processes and their flow through the organization.

My recommendation is to combine all the steps in a cross-functional group where HR-, process-, project- and HR-IT-specialist works together on the solutions.

Doing this helps to reduce loops in the design and implementation and therefore reduces HR costs.
